Nineteen trees decorate Southaven home

SOUTHAVEN, MS (WMC-TV) - Trimming the tree is a popular holiday pastime, but one Southaven family is taking tree decorating to a whole new level.

For Barry Holloway and Jim Jetton, Christmas is the best time of the year, and the 19 trees in their home prove it.

"There's not a specific theme per se, but as far as color scheme and everything, the trees go with the decor in that room," Holloway said.

While touring the home, you'll find everything from a reindeer that greets you at the door to an upside down tree.  You'll also see a beautiful showpiece in the entrance way to the home.

Holloway said the idea was cultivated by his mother, who always loved this time of year.

"I guess I got the trait to start decorating so much," he said. "I got it from her, and it just has kinda progressed each year. We add a little more and it's just progressed to the 19 trees this year."

A tree in the home's media room is decorated in movie reels and popcorn boxes. Holloway said the process begins in October, and the reaction from friends and family can best be described in one word.

"It's 'wow,'' he said. "It's just the wow factor. Everybody that comes in, it's hard for them to pick which one they like the best."

2009 is the sixth year the men have decorated the home.  But, because nothing stays the same, Holloway says visitors can expect a new crop of decorations next year.
