UPDATE: Man found shot to death in East Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A man was found shot to death Wednesday morning at the Madison at Humphreys Center, an apartment complex in East Memphis.

Memphis police said the shooting happened shortly before 9:00 a.m., when Michael Taylor, 39, was shot in the chest.

Police charged Taylor's wife, 38-year-old Pamela Taylor, with second degree murder.  Investigators said the incident was likely related to domestic violence.

The early morning shooting call to police had Chessie Tollison on edge.

"I was laying in bed. I said, 'Oh my God.' My roommates and I, we're just three girls and they were like we need to lock all the doors. They were worried. Even though it's domestic, it's still a little scary that somebody had a gun in our apartments," said Tollison.

The apartment complex released a statement saying, "There was a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a resident of Madison Humphreys Center. Information from the Memphis Police Department indicates that this incident was domestic in nature."

Residents say it's a quiet community and they never expected anything like this to happen here.

"I just moved into these apartments. We've heard good things about it, so it's scary," said Tollison.

"It's very quiet and upscale. The only people that live over here are people that work at Baptist or in medical school" said Mario Butler.

While investigators are not saying IF or HOW the couple are related, neighbors are still trying to figure out what could have sparked this deadly tragedy.

"I don't know if people are more stressed out during the holidays and maybe that would be the reason why...I really don't know," said Tollison.

Taylor was released Thursday on $100,000 bond.
