MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A chase involving police and three robbery suspects ended in a Bartlett neighborhood just after noon Friday.

"I woke up this morning and one ran past the window," said Dustin Woodall, who witnessed the pursuit. "I saw another cop chasing him."

Bartlett police said the suspects were leaving the scene of burglary and, during an almost 5 mile chase, repeatedly tried to ram their car into the officers in pursuit.

"They were definitely trying to evade police," said Lt. Rory Mack of the Bartlett Police Department.

The suspects finally crashed after hitting a squad car, and officers fired a shot gun blast into the driver's side door.

"Right now we have a female in custody, a male in custody, and we're searching for a third man," Mack said.

Inside the car, officers found stolen items that came from a home on Guffin Road.

"They took televisions, jewelry, and just basically ransacked the house," said Lester Artry, owner of the burglarized home.

Artry had a hunch who was robbing his home while he was at work: his own son.

"I brought him into my home approximately a year ago, and I had to remove him from my home due to him being a gang member and into all other types of things," Artry said.

Despite Artry's efforts to give his 18-year-old son Tremaine a better life, he refused to leave the gang.
"To be honest with you, I have given up, because I've done everything I can do," he said. "Once you've done everything you can do, what else is there for me to do?"

Artry hoped Friday's arrest would be a wake up call for his son to give up the gang and turn his life around.

The suspects in Friday's robbery and pursuit are facing a number of charges, including several counts of assault on a police officer.  Two suspects are in custody, while the third remains at large.
