Willie Mitchell remembered in public ceremony

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Music legend Willie Mitchell was remembered Wednesday in Memphis.

Mitchell, who died last week from cardiac arrest, was honored this afternoon at Hope Presbyterian Church.

Mitchell produced hits with several well-known artists, including Al Green.  Today's service recounted much of the music that made Mitchell famous.

Memphis radio personality Bobby O'Jay hoped that Mitchell's work would live on forever.

"The good thing about it is the work he did will last forever," O'Jay said, "so we will always have that."

Mitchell was buried yesterday during a private service.  He was 81 years old.
