MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Bartlett boy who fell into an icy pond and spent more than ten minutes underwater is close to making a full recovery.

Reese Wagner is still in Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center.  But according to his family, Wagner is making great strides.

A Facebook page set up in honor of Reese Wagner now has almost 13 thousand members.

One week ago Wagner was with two friends playing football on a frozen pond in Bartlett when he fell into eight to ten feet of icy water.  One of those friends made the 911 call.

Miraculously, Reese was still alive after being under water for 10 minutes or more.

According to Wagner's mother, doctors have removed the tube from the little boy's throat.  He is still on oxygen but is able to talk and sit up.  Even eat a cherry popsicle and read.

Wagner may be put in a regular room by the end of the week.  Friends said the little boy's family was elated and grateful for the prayers, which came from friends and complete strangers who have reached out over the internet to witness what some are calling a miracle.

No word yet on when Reese Wagner might be released from the hospital.  The family said they would like to keep visitors to a minimum so that Reese can get plenty of rest.
