Better Business Bureau warns donators to be cautious

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The Better Business Bureau warns those looking for ways to help earthquake victims in Haiti to beware of fraud.

They advise those donating to be wary of organizations that claim 100 percent of their donations will assist relief victims.  They also say be cautious about online giving, especially in response to spam messages and e-mails.

The BBB says for donators to find out if the charity has staff members working in the impacted areas.  Victims are likely to get aid faster if there are.
Also, find out if the charity is providing direct aid or raising money for other groups.

Make sure the charity is experiences in disaster relief assistance.
