Tigers Claim NCAA Regular Season Record

HOUSTON (AP) - Elliot Williams scored more than 30 points for

the second time this month as he led Memphis to a record-setting

80-68 victory over Rice on Saturday night.

The Tigers (13-4, 3-0) took their 52nd straight win over

Conference USA teams, breaking the all-time NCAA record for

consecutive victories in regular-season conference play.

The previous mark of 51 was set by Kentucky between 1950 and

1954.

Williams finished with 32 points a week after he scored 33

against Southern Mississippi. He made 9 of 15 from the floor,

including three 3-pointers.

Arsalan Kazemi picked up his fourth double-double of the season

for the Owls (6-11, 0-4), scoring 15 points and pulling down 11

rebounds. Trey Stanton led the Owls with 18 points.

Roburt Sallie helped the Tigers with 12 points, while Willie

Kemp finished with 11.
