DYERSBURG, TN (WMC-TV) - Northwest Tennessee could see as much as a foot of snow before the winter weather storm system that hit the Mid-South Friday passes.

Residents of Dyersburg, Tennessee began seeing ice for the first time Thursday night.

Robert Glover said the roads were too icy for his Mitsubishi pickup.

"It was a mess," Glover said.  "You got to ease through and it'll get away from you in just a second."

Glover lost control of his truck before he skidded into the median of Highway 51.

Snow plows became a familiar scene as transportation crews worked throughout the day sanding and salting roads trying to keep them safe.

For Glover, his experience is a lesson learned.  He is now passing on advice to other drivers.

"Get to the house," Glover said.  "Stay at the house for the most part, that's all you can do.  It's getting worse and worse."
