Tigers Garcia Released for Practice/May Play vs UAB

In College Hoops, the Memphis Tigers are in Bounce Back mode after Saturdays' unexpected loss at SMU, but they'll soon get a boost to their rotation.

6'11" Sophomore forward Angel Garcia was cleared for limited live contact practice with the team today.

He's sat out almost 2-years, first for academics, then with a torn ACL..

The Puerto Rican native has been on an rehabilitation program, and is well ahead of the usual 8-month recovery time..

Tigers Head Coach Josh Pastner says that DOESN'T mean he'll throw him right out there against UAB on Wednesday.

He says Garcia is limited in his lateral movement, wearing a big Leg Brace, and won't be effective as a Rebounder.

Pastner says Garcia's main asset will be as an outside shooter..

He says expect limited minutes early, if Garcia plays at all.
