Tigers Porter Reels in 26 in First Football Signing Class

This is as close as it gets to Christmas for College Football Coaches..including New University of Memphis Head Coach Larry Porter.

National Signing Day is when they all find out if they've been naughty or nice on the Recruiting Trail.

Porter finds 26 recruits under his Football Tree, including 3 from inside the City Limits..

Linebacker Fred Harvey, of Tennessee State Champion White Station..

Offensive Lineman Al Bond, part of the very first Recruiting Class at the New Southwind High School.

And Defensive End Corey Jones of State Semifinalist Mitchell High School.

All said they want to be part of Something New.

U of M Head Coach Larry Porter says he filled some needs in the secondary and at Wide Receiver in his first recruiting haul.

Porter says, after recruiting at a program like LSU, he understands it's a tougher fight to get the cream of the crop to come or STAY at Memphis..

He says it's a battle he's willing to fight.

Porter has 6-Mid Year signees already in school, including a Top Juco Quarterback prospect in 6'5" Andy Andy Summerlin.

He says he can't wait to start coaching his new team.

That'll start Monday Morning 6am with Off-Season conditioning.
