Clarification: Central blood line infection story

Last week, Action News 5 aired a story about the infection rates at area hospitals as reported by Consumer Reports.

Since that time, we have discovered that Baptist Memorial Memphis, named in our story, should have been identified as Baptist Memorial Collierville.

We received this statement from Baptist Memorial Corporate Office:

Baptist Memphis' infection rates are 16 percent lower than the national average and Baptist DeSoto's rates are 72 percent lower than the national average. While Baptist Collierville's rates are higher than the national average, they are still within normal range for a small hospital.  And they have not had a central blood line infection in a year.

Action News 5 regrets the confusion.
