OAHU, HI (WMC-TV) - A Mid-South family was in Hawaii Saturday as the tsunami warning went into effect.
Action News 5 spoke to Christie Nedved of Eads, Tennessee as she was bracing for the tsunami.
She said she was watching the waves from the ninth floor of the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
"The hotel is pretty much telling us to stay where we are as long as we're above the third floor because this hotel has been built for tsunamis," Nedved said.
Nedved said guests were instructed to stock up on water and non-perishable items and stay in their rooms.
Nedved said she and her family were following the orders.
