OLIVE BRANCH, MS (WMC-TV) - An Olive Branch mother is out on bond after admitting she bought alcohol for her son and his friends.

Monica Nichols, 37, is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.  Olive Branch police say Nichols admitted to buying alcohol and throwing a party for her 16-year-old son and his friends.

"I know that she has teenagers over there and her own, and occasionally I see kids hanging out, but I don't know...I'm just surprised," said Nichols' neighbor, Ruby Payne.

Nichols was arrested after authorities received a complaint from a parent who claims his 16-year-old left the party and came home intoxicated.

"You would think that an adult would be more responsible," Payne said. "With me myself raising kids, I wouldn't be serving alcohol to minors."

When officers went to Nichols' home they discovered at least seven other intoxicated teens, all between the ages of 14 and 17.  Officials said she also gave her own 15 and 16-year-olds alcohol.

Nichols was not available for comment Monday, but some of her neighbors came to her defense.

"She seems to thinks it's OK, and as long as it's in her house, I have no problem with it," Chet Felts said. "Be thankful these kids weren't sneaking off, getting the booze and drinking. At least they were with somebody who was responsible."

Nichols is currently out of jail on $1,000 bond.  All of the teens will have to go to court, as will Nichols, who will appear on March 25.
