MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) – Memphis police are searching for one or more suspects who struck a woman with a car Monday morning, and then stole her purse.

Investigators said the incident happened just after 5:00 a.m. Monday as a pair of women walked home after visiting the Walgreens at Park and Highland.

As the women walked, they were approached by the suspects, who were inside a silver 2002 Toyota Camry.  According to police, the occupants of the Camry asked the women if they needed a  ride home.  When the women refused, the driver of the Camry struck one of them with the car.

The driver then snatched the woman's purse as he ran his vehicle into a fence at 3363 Park Avenue.

The suspects backed the vehicle up, and were last seen traveling westbound in the Camry.

The injured woman was taken to a local hospital in non-critical condition.

Investigators said the Camry driven by the suspects was taken Saturday during a car-jacking at the Smart Mart on Highland. The car has a Tennessee license plate, 074-FGD.  The suspect in that carjacking was described as an unshaven black male with a dark complexion, 5'11", 220 lbs, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
