MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Tennessee doctor who is registered as a sex offender lost his license to practice medicine Wednesday.

The news comes two days after Action New 5 interviewed a Mid-South mother who had no idea that Dr. David Livingston, her daughter's doctor, was once charged with child molestation.

Livingston, a registered violent sex offender, was allowed to practice medicine in Tennessee for 18 years until the The Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners revoked his license.

Part of the board's decision was based on Livingston's 1987 felony charge of first degree rape sodomy and sexual abuse of a minor.  The charge was reduced to a misdemeanor when Livingston pleaded guilty.   Because of his history he was supposed to be chaperoned when examining female patients in Tennessee.

Livingston violated state law after entering his wife in a study for a controlled substance and then signing her prescriptions.

Livingston also violated the Tennessee Sex Offender Act by opening a medical practice within 1,000 feet of a daycare.  Livingston said he did not realize the daycare was there, but his daughter was registered there.
