MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) – Memphis police are investigating an alleged rape at a Memphis high school.

According to a police spokesperson, the rape was reported late Tuesday afternoon at Mitchell High School.  The spokesperson said the rape apparently involved a Memphis City Schools security officer and a 16-year-old student.

Reaction to the arrest among was mixed.

"He's an alright guy," junior student Undraa Dorsey said. "He never came around as a weird guy or anything.  It kind of shocked me a bit."

"It's sad to see the way things, you know, are going on around the world today," student Mattie Clark said.

"He does flirt with girls and have them laughing all the time," sophomore student Lotina Summers said. "He always took up for 'em, so I wasn't really surprised."

Summers said the accusations would keep her on edge.

"It's hard for anybody to trust anything. I mean, Memphis City Schools - they need to do something about this," she said.

No charges have been filed in the case, but a suspect is currently being held by police.  Because he has not been charged, the suspect's name has not been released.

MCS officials said they were cooperating with the police investigation, and declined further comment until it is complete.
