Auburn signee from Olive Branch battles cancer

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn coach Gene Chizik says football signee Shon Coleman is dealing with a medical issue.

Chizik did not provide details about it after Monday's practice. He says his thoughts are with the offensive lineman and his family, not about what his status for the season might be.

Coleman's mother, DeKeisha Tunstall, posted on her Facebook page that Coleman had been recently diagnosed with a form of cancer. She wrote that he was "taking his chemotherapy treatment like a champ."

Chizik says he has spoken with Coleman and his family and would stay in touch with them. He says they have never even brought up the subject of football.
