MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Tooth extractions, fillings and cleaning were the order of the day at Dentist Pat Clark's Germantown office Saturday.

Clark and his team of volunteers have offered free services to as many people was possible on Dentistry with a Heart Day.

"They'll sit out there all night long just to get that one thing done," Clark said.

However, Clark said this year was different.

"We've had people who've been patients for years but they lost their jobs," Clark said, "lost their insurance."

Caitlin Tucker, a patient, said dental hygiene is critical.

"I'm getting my teeth cleaned," Tucker said.  "It makes my teeth healthier and stronger and I can do more with my teeth."

Clark said dental work sometimes gets lost in the shuffle.

"If the tooth's not hurting that bad and they have to pay their light bill, they're going to pay their light bill," Clark said.

Clark said the first person who needed help camped outside his office starting at 2:30 Friday afternoon.  He said the biggest reward was the grateful smiles he sees.

"When somebody looks at you and tells you, 'God bless you,' and says, 'without you, I don't know what I would have done'," Clark said.
