DYERSBURG, TN (WMC-TV) - Authorities are searching for a man who went missing while turkey hunting Saturday morning.

Volunteer search and rescue crews from as far away as Missouri have been looking for Ronnie Cobb since he disappeared Saturday.

Family members said Cobb left his Dyer County home just before dawn Saturday to go Turkey hunting.  Cobb spoke with a Game and Fish Warden near the Forked Deer River around 9:00 a.m.  Less than an hour later, he was seen launching his boat.

It was the last time anyone saw him.

Saturday afternoon, after family members realized he was missing, search and rescue crews started walking miles of woods surrounding the river looking for Cobb.

According to Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Holt, investigators eventually discovered Cobb's boat about seven miles from the point he would have put it in the water - and from where his car was parked.

"The boat was stuck in an overhanging tree, and it was caught between the tree and the bank," Holt said.

Monday, searchers were in the water diving looking for Cobb, as other combed the nearby woods.  Holt called the search "difficult and dangerous" because of swift currents and debris in the river.

"It's dangerous for all the people out here looking, especially the areas on the water," Holt said. "There's amounts of trash, logs, trees...everything."

Late Monday night, family members were praying for a miracle, even as Cobb's brother admitted it was unlikely he would be found alive.

"It doesn't look good," his brother said.
