MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - It was in the shadow of a church on Mountain Terrace Wednesday afternoon where the family of 15-year-old Mercedes Leake said the teen was severely beaten.

"She got a tennis shoe print on her face," said aunt Nicole Dotson.  "Her face literally has a Nike Air Force One tennis shoe print on it," she added.

Dotson said up to 15 boys and girls may have followed Leake home from Trezevant High School where an ongoing dispute likely boiled over.

"She kept going in and out of conscious," recalled Dotson.  "They beat her unconscious," she added.

Dotson suspects the attack is connected to a series of threatening messages sent by possible gang members over MySpace.

"The kids was trying to get in and we was trying to get out," said Dotson about a recent fight outside her own home.  She said it involved a group of girls who came looking for both her niece and her daughter.

"I have a lot of things going on in my life and I don't need this," said Dotson.

Dotson is the sister of accused Lester Street Massacre suspect Jessie Dotson.  She lost a number of loved ones that horrific night two years ago.  She said she
refuses to watch another family member's life end in violence.

"I went to police and now I'm coming to the news," said Dotson.  "I want my story heard and I want something done about it," she added.

She said the safety of her niece, daughter, and other students depends on it.

Memphis Police are investigating the possible attack.  No arrests have been made.
