MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The St. Paul Book and Gift Store on Poplar is filled with expressions of faith.  But co-owner Kye Bargiachi believes something less tangible saved her life when a robber surprised her outside the back door around 8:30 one night last month.

"He just stepped out," recalled Bargiachi.  "Stepped out from the dark and must have been in the bushes or something," she added.

"I kind of wanted to ignore him and when I did he grabbed the purse," said Bargiachi.  "He pushed me," she added.

She said the man ran across the railroad tracks with much of her stuff after knocking her to the ground.

He was later caught on camera with the suspected female accomplice inside a Memphis Walmart store.  The woman tried to spend more than $700 using one of Bargiachi's credit cards.  But it had already been reported stolen.

The suspected robber and his woman left the store empty handed.

"I've prayed a lot since then for him," said Bargiachi.  "That's for sure," she added.  "What would cause somebody to do that?" she wondered.

Bargiachi said she was unaware the robber had a helper.  She hopes they find justice and a better sense of purpose in life.

The suspected robber appeared to have tattoos on both arms.  The couple was last seen driving a maroon sedan with a temporary tag.  Call Crime-Stoppers at 901-528-CASH with any information.
