FedEx team members plant trees in Shelby Farms

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - FedEx team members planted, watered and mulched trees throughout Shelby Farms Monday morning as part of the Shelby Farms One Million Trees initiative.

The project is part of a three week initiative in six major US cities, supported through a FedEx and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation grant.

Brandon Tidwell with FedEx said the initiative was enjoyed by the participants.

"I think a lot of them are really enjoying just being outside and getting their hands dirty and feeling like they're doing something good for the community," Tidwell said.

Seventy-five people planted in Shelby County today.  Three-hundred will plant across the country as part of the company's Earthsmart platform that includes hybrid trucks and solar-powered centers.

More than 1,200 trees were Monday's goal for Shelby Farms.
