MUNFORD, TN (WMC-TV) - A Munford man is behind bars after a home invasion last week, and police now know this isn't the suspect's first time behind bars.
A steep driveway and a practically hidden house weren't enough to stop Toby Foster from breaking inside the home in the middle of the night last week.
"They were awakened by someone in the bedroom, they heard a noise," said Donna Turner of the Tipton County Sheriff's Department.
Investigators charged Foster with theft and robbery after he walked through an unlocked door. Deputies said Foster took computers, electronics, money and even frozen food from the house.
The couple inside knew Toby Foster.
"I don't know of a motive," Turner said. "I do know he had been drinking prior to the incident."
After a little research, deputies were shocked to find this was not Toby Foster's first brush with the law. Foster served nearly twenty years in prison for stabbing someone to death.
"He's been out of prison for two years," Turner said. "He's on parole out of Reno, Nevada for homicide."
Deputies said the south Tipton county neighborhood of Munford is normally very quiet, but according to Turner, no matter how quiet it gets, this crime should be a lesson to everyone.
But Chief Turner says no matter how quiet, this crime should be a lesson to everyone.
"Be cautious, use common sense precautions like locking doors and the use of lights," Turner advises.
Sheriff's deputies say there could be a connection between this case and similar cases in Munford and Atoka.
