MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Four people charged in connection with a Memphis murder told police the only crime they intended to commit was robbery.

Harold Chavis was killed in his apartment on May 1.  Police said it may have started when Craig Holmes showed up at Chavis' apartment in search of money he may have been owed.

Holmes was accompanied by Darious Hackman and Kameron Shotwell, 17.  According to the affidavit of complaint, Holmes served as a lookout while Hackman and Shotwell tried to get money from Chavis.

During the attempted shakedown, Chavis was shot in his apartment.

Holmes' sister Shanikwa is accused of driving the men to Chavis' apartment and then driving them from the scene after the shooting.

Police said Shotwell pulled the trigger, but all four have been charged with first degree murder for playing a role in the shooting.

A fifth man was also at the scene of the crime.  He told police they went to the apartment specifically to commit a robbery.  That man has not been charged in this case.
