SOUTHAVEN, MS (WMC-TV) - Two men and a woman were arrested and charged for a series of auto burglaries that stretched from Southaven to Olive Branch.
There have been dozens of auto burglaries recently in Southaven. The latest arrests were made May 17 when officers arrested the trio of young people.
"They find the occupants kind of out in the neighborhood on foot," said Lt. Mark Little of the Southaven Police Department. "They came up with an excuse and an on-scene investigation determined these guys had been breaking into cars and had a lot of stolen items in the car."
The suspects' car was stopped on Yarmouth Cove just off of Getwell in Southaven. Police arrested Brack Harris, Christoper Mares and Shaina White, all of Southaven. They are charged with auto burglary and conspiracy to commit auto burglary.
Little said the trio is connected to six to eight car burglaries in the Cherry Tree Park neighborhood. He also said the spree did not stop there.
"We were able to determine these guys had hit maybe a couple more jurisdictions, one being Olive Branch," Little said. "We informed them, they conducted their own investigation and they charged the trio with some charges."
Little said that since April there have been five separate auto burglary incidents in the same area and many of those suspects are now behind bars.
"Nine people total since April 24 that we've arrested out doing the same type of burglaries," Little said.
All three suspects were taken to the DeSoto County Jail. Bond for Harris and Mares was set at more than $24,000 and White's bond was set at more than $8,000.
