Woman accused of ramming car into police station appears in court

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The woman accused of ramming her car into a Memphis police precinct appeared in court Wednesday morning.  Stephanie Vester is accused of twice ramming her car into the Police station on Union Avenue on May 7.

Tuesday, Vester was assigned a court-appointed attorney.

Outside court, Vester's boyfriend, Benjamin Archer, described the crash as an accident.  Archer said Vester has mental problems, and was not taking her medicine when her car crashed into the fire station.

"I feel like it was an accident, you know, that she ran into the building cause she had got off her medicine," he said. "She was taking sleeping pills and respodol."

Vester is locked up on $50,000 bond.

Her next court day is June 16.
