TUNICA, MS (WMC-TV) - The body of a fisherman missing since Friday night was found around 10 a.m. Sunday on Tunica Lakes near Tunica.

Searchers had been looking for Charlie Crozier, 74, since he was reported missing Friday night.  The search continued all day Saturday and resumed early Sunday morning.

Lisa McElhaney, the missing man's longtime girlfriend, called 911 after Crozier went out to the lake in his boat and did not return.

"He's my best friend," McElhaney said.

Searchers located Crozier's capsized boat at around 8 p.m. Friday in about 25 feet of water close to the shore.  McElhaney said they later found his body in the same area.

"They found his body right out there where they found his boat," McElhaney said.

Neighbors were shocked to hear of the drowning.

"When that man drowned it was just something freaky," Hubert Steelman said.

"It's real said," Bonnie Thompson said.  "We heard Friday night that they were looking for him."

McElhaney and relatives were heartbroken.

"The worst probably you could feel at a point like this," McElhaney said.  "It was a very sad loss, we loved the man.  He was a nice man, he took care of us all."

Family members said they think Crozier had finished fishing and was returning to shore when he drowned.

Officers from Mississippi Fish and Wildlife, the rescue squad from the Tunica Fire Department and the DeSoto County Search and Rescue Team are helping the Tunica County Sheriff's Department with the search.
