MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The Memphis in May celebration ended Saturday with the Sunset Symphony.
Thousands of people packed Tom Lee Park. People spent the afternoon enjoying vintage and concept airplanes performing over the Mississippi River.
Leesa Henderson, a Sunset Symphony veteran, brought lawn chairs and picnicked as she watched the sunset.
"We set up, as we call it, our plot," Henderson said. "Every year it's the same area over by the green box, by the sidewalk and usually there's restrooms relatively close to us."
Once the sun was down, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra performed. KC & The Sunshine Band made a special appearance.
The event ended with a fireworks display.
