MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Police said they found a man stuck in a ceiling trying to break into a Chinese restaurant early Saturday morning.

Police caught Lionel Atkins inside the building.  He did not take anything but left behind a mess at Sing Lay Chinese Restaurant.

One door was broken and shattered during the break-in.  When the alarm went off, Memphis Police showed up.  Even from outside the building, they could hear something inside.

When officers got inside the restaurant, they searched the entire building.  They did not find anyone, though they kept hearing noises.  Police soon realized what they were hearing was happening above them.

Police then checked the ceiling and found Atkins.  According to the affidavit of complaint, he had to be pulled out.

Atkins is locked up at 201 Poplar on a $50,000 bond.  He was charged with breaking into Sing Lay and vandalizing the bathroom, kitchen and ceiling.

According to the affidavit of complaint, Atkins caused between as much as $5,000 in damage.
