Violent Wednesday morning keeps Memphis police busy

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - One person is dead and multiple investigations are underway after a violent Wednesday morning in the city of Memphis.

Around 12:30 a.m., police received a shooting call in the 1500 block of Victor Street. Upon arrival, they found a man in his early twenties lying on the sidewalk. He had been shot, and was taken to the Regional Medical Center in extremely critical condition, where he later died. Police do not have a motive or suspects, but are talking to witnesses.

Police were also called to the Classic Souls nightclub, located at 1027 East Brooks Road. When officers arrived, they discovered a man shot in the parking lot. He was also rushed to the Med in critical condition.

A short time later, gunshots rang out again just across the street from that location. Two people were shot. Those two victims were also taken to the Med. Their injuries were not life threatening.

Police are investigating, but are not sure if the three shooting victims from the East Brooks Road locations are connected at this time.

Memphis police were called out to more shootings before the night was over. In all, five different shooting scenes, seven shooting victims, and one person dead.
