MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Investigators believe two teenage girls were shot Monday night over what one of them posted on her MySpace page.
The bullet that went through the front window of Vanessa Merriweather's home was a constant reminder to her Tuesday of the chaos that happened late Monday night.
"It was like, 'Oh my God. A bullet just came in my house,'" Merriweather said.
When police arrived at Merriweather's home Monday night, two girls, ages 18 and 16, had both been shot. The 18-year-old was taken to The MED in critical condition, while the 16-year-old was only grazed in the leg by a bullet.
"We heard about five shots, and we came outside and saw somebody laying on the ground," Merriweather said. "Then police and fire started coming and everything."
Investigators believe an argument over a statement placed on MySpace is what started the shooting. According to one of the victims, the comment was posted on her sister's Myspace page. Someone by the name of "Alexis" stated, "that they whooped that (expletive) at Visions and that (expletive) came and busted my moms windows out too."
Merriweather, who was at home with her mother at the time, said she was thankful no one was in her den, where the bullet landed.
"It's really frightening, because I usually sleep in there every night, but last night I decided to sleep in my bedroom," she said.
Police say several vehicles were involved in the shooting, including a black Nissan Maxima and a black Tahoe.
