MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The owner of an East Memphis Mexican restaurant was told to clean-up after health inspectors caught employees not washing their hands.
Health inspectors gave La Mexicana Taqueria on Whitten Road a score of 61. Anything below 70 is considered a failing score.
In their report, inspectors said a cook and a dish washer handled food and clean plates without washing their hands. They also said food that was uncovered in a cooler, and the cooler itself was dirty. Inspectors also noticed dried spills that had been cleaned up, and food kept at unsafe temperatures.
A couple of restaurants received outstanding scores this week:
- The Memphis Country Club seasonal food service scored a perfect score of 100
- Bosses Chicken Wings at 5030 Poplar scored a 99.
