MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Without a title sponsor, can the St. Jude Classic survive in the Bluff City or will it be dropped from the PGA schedule?
For the past 40 years, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital has been the sole beneficiary. Every year, fans come out to the golf course not only to see fantastic action, but to support St. Jude.
Without a title sponsor, this tournament is in danger of being dropped from the PGA tour schedule.
People at the final day of the St. Jude Classic at TPC Southwind said that is something Memphis cannot allow to happen.
"We need the support of all of Memphis," said one attendee. "This is an opportunity to come together as a community and support the people that are doing these good works for these children from around the world."
Even the volunteers and players are getting in on the cause by sporting maroon ribbons in support of the tournament staying on the schedule and staying in Memphis.
