Memphian in Lead at U.S. Open

After finishing in a tie for 4th last week at the St. Jude Classic at the TPC at Southwind..Memphian Shaun Micheel took off for the West Coast and a shot at the U.S. Open Championship..

Take you Pebble Beach National Golf Course by the sea...

Micheel qualified for the open by finishing in the Top 12 last Monday in a Grueling 36 Hole Open Qualifier at Germantown and Ridgeway Country Clubs...

The Former CBHS star tied for the lead at 2-under...but in the Bunker at 17..

A Beautiful him a chance to save par..

But, it wouldn't be in the Cards as Micheels putt rims out... He takes Bogey and drops to 1-under.

So it's on to 18... Micheel needs a good approach to have any hope to get back in Front.

Right over the top of the flag..

The result, a long curving Birdie putt that finds the bottom of the cup..

Micheel finishes with the first round under 70 on the day..

His 2-Under Par 69 Ties him at the Top of the Leaderboard when he comes off the course..

But, will it keep him there?

Shaun Micheel -2 69

Paul Casey      -2

Brendon de Jonge  -2

K.J. Choi -1

Mike Weir -1

Thursday's Second Round can be  on NBC and WMC TV-5 from 2-to-4pm.
