MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Memphis chef is trying to cook her way to stardom through a new contest sponsored by Oprah Winfrey.

Elle Green has produced a new organic cooking video she thinks is the perfect recipe for TV success.

"In the video I'm doing a double date waffle recipe," Green said.

The Memphis chef submitted her video to the new nationwide contest called Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star.

"If they choose me, then I have a national cooking show," Green said.

When Green is not doing research for her company, Simple Conceptions, she is catering private parties and other events.  Her specialty is organic dishes.

"Organic food is simply food that's prepared, grown and processed without pesticides," Green said.

Green said she has been cooking since childhood.  Organic dishes have been a mainstay in her family for a long time.

"Growing up, food was a major part of my life and my family," Green said.  "Watching my mother and grandmother in the kitchen, people were always happy leaving their tables."

Green said she hopes she can make Oprah happy and become a part of the billionaire talk show host's new TV network.

"What's better to make someone smile than with something that's delicious and good for you," Green said.
