COMO, MS (WMC-TV) - A Mid-South teenager is the primary suspect in the shooting death of both his father and stepmother.

Police said 16-year-old Matthew Jacobs likely pulled the trigger Wednesday that killed Crystal and Tommy Jacobs.

Panola County Sheriff Otis Griffin said Jacobs's father and stepmother appeared to be asleep in bed when they were shot.  The 16-year-old was also shot in the hand, but it is unclear how that happened.

"I think it was about four shots that were fired," Griffin said.

Griffin said Jacobs went to sleep Tuesday night in the house he shared with his father, stepmother and two stepsisters who were not in the house.  Griffin said it was not clear what happened.

A friend of Crystal Jacobs who also lived in the house said she did not realize someone was shooting because six window air conditioners were on.

"She said she heard a noise," Griffin said.  "It sounded like somebody threw something against the wall.  She said after that she heard a vehicle crank up."

The woman went into the couple's bedroom and then called 911.  Crystal Jacobs was dead.  Tommy Jacobs was alive but later died at The MED.
