MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A 16-year-old boy was in The MED Monday after police said he shot a man, rammed a police cruiser and tried to steal a truck.

Cosmiller Gause was still trying to make sense of the shooting that injured her brother, 45-year-old Al Gause.

"We're really not shocked," she said.  "We were just shocked that it happened to him because he's basically a homely person.  He stays home and basically doesn't bother anyone."

Officers arrived at Al Gause's home on Russellwood early Monday morning after they received a home invasion/robbery call.  That was where they found him shot in the head.

"It seems like they was out to rob him or get something out of the house and whoever was in there," Cosmiller Gause said.  "I don't know if he fought against them or whatever, but they hit him in the head with a pistol and the pistol went off and the bullet grazed him in the head."

A 16-year-old was arrested for the crime.  Police said Al Gause picked the suspect up from an unknown location and brought the suspect back to his house.

Investigators claim the suspect shot Gause in the back of the head and sped off in Gause's Mazda MPV.

The suspect them led authorities on a chase.  The suspect rammed a police cruiser, jumped out of the car and took off on foot before police captured him.

"Even if it's somebody that you know, nobody has the right to harm you like that for no reason," Cosmiller Gause said.

Al Gause was in surgery at The MED Monday.  He was in critical condition.

No officers were injured during the incident.  Charges have yet to be filed against the 16-year-old suspect.
