MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A 15-year-old boy died Monday night after he drowned inside the pool at the Villas at Willow Creek Apartments. Police say the teenager, his 18-year-old brother and another 14-year-old teenager jumped a fence so they could get into the pool after hours.

Neighbor Deondre Scott watched as authorities tried to save the victim's life.

"I just seen the body just lying there and whole bunch of police and paramedics," Scott said.

The incident occurred Monday around 11 p.m. Investigators said officers arrived at the scene where they found the teenager lying on his back next to the pool.

"They say he jumped in there on his own and drowned so I don't know," Scott said. "I've heard like 2 or 3 different stories so I don't know what to believe."

Officers were advised that the 15-year-old had been in the water for more than 8 minutes and was unresponsive.

"All of his other friends jumped in the pool and left him there," Scott said. "They say he'd been floating around for like 10 minutes before anybody saw him."

The teenager was taken to Le Bonheur Chidren's Hospital in critical condition, where he later died. Sources said neither the 15-year-old nor his 18-year-old brother knew how to swim.
