MARSHALL COUNTY, TN (WMC-TV) - Police in Marshall County are investigating an early morning shooting that left one person dead.

According to Lt. Kelly McMillin, police received a call of shots fired just after 6:00 a.m. at this home on Tulip Cove in the quiet Cayce community of Marshall County. McMillin said a female caller, who lives at the home, said a man had been shot.

"A male subject inside the residence that had been shot multiple times," McMillen said. "Upon arrival we found the victim still lying in bed."

Harvey Gipson, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Donna, was arrested and charged with the murder.

A neighbor, Melissa, who asked that we not use her last name, said Donna told her mother what she had done shortly after the shooting.

"Donna came up to her and told her she'd shot Harvey. She didn't say why, other than she was tired," Melissa said.

Gipson owned a lawn service, and cut many of the yards in the neighborhood. By all accounts, the Gipsons were a quiet couple, which made the shooting especially jarring to neighbors.

"This was not something we expected at all," Melissa said. "Not with them. They were a good couple."

Officials said Donna Gipson is being held at the Marshall County Jail.  Tuesday murder was the second of 2010 in Marshall County.
