MARSHALL COUNTY, MS (WMC-TV) - The day after a shooting on Tulip Cove in Marshall County, which claimed the life of Harvey Gipson, his wife Donna sat in the Marshall County jail.

Gipson, who made her initial court appearance Tuesday morning, has been formally charged in her husband's murder.   Authorities she shot him Monday morning while he slept.

"Donna Ann Gipson has been fully charged and arraigned in Marshall County Justice Court, the charge being murder," said Lt. Kelly McMillen of the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.

According to McMillen, after the shooting, Donna Gipson called 911, admitting she had shot her husband. But later, during questioning, she decided to stop talking.

"As we progressed in our interview and interrogation of Ms. Donna, she decided it was time for her to remain silent and seek council," McMillin said.

People who knew the couple remain perplexed as to why it happened. Donna previously worked as a fitness instructor at the Olive Branch YMCA.

"She was a people person," said Jim Robinson, a co-worker of Donna's. "She loved working here, loved the members, the members loved her - she made an impact while she was here."

Robinson also noted something her husband did every time he stopped by to see her.

"Harvey brought her flowers everyday," he said. "It made some of the staff jealous. They would see him bring her flowers everyday."

Donna Gipson is being held on a $500,000 dollar bond. The investigation into what prompted the shooting continues.
