MUNFORD, TN (WMC-TV) - Tipton County sheriff's deputies say they've busted a burglary ring and at the same time taught residents in the area a very valuable lesson.
Residents along Beaver Road in Munford say they are alarmed after two teens were arrested for breaking into cars and homes in the area.
"It's unreal how gutsy kids are these days. They're willing to walk up on somebody's property and take their stuff," said resident Sarah Manuel.
Manuel was at home last week when she heard something outside. She didn't think anything of it at first, because a party was going on next door.
"We were sitting up watching TV and the next thing I know I hear somebody's cell phone ringing close to my house, and next thing I know I hear my car door shut," she said.
Deputies said the two 17-year-olds were charged with breaking into 15 cars and one house in the area.
"All of the cars were unlocked and the cars that were locked were passed by. It's a very close location in the neighborhood especially for this amount of burglaries to happen at one time," added Chief Donna Turner of the Tipton County Sheriff's Department.
Guns, GPS devices, speakers, and cash were all taken. Luckily, these items were all returned to their rightful owners.
"I've been a victim before, and getting my stuff back was most important," Turner said.
"He could have known how to hot wire a car and my car could have been gone for all I know," Manuel said.
Turner said the two teens arrested could be tried as adults.
