MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Memphis will be in the spotlight Friday when the feature film N-Secure goes into wide theatrical release.

Produced and financed by local promoter Julius Lewis, and co-written by Christie Taylor, the Memphis-based film tells the story of a possessive ex-marine who commits murder.

"It was done beautifully," Lewis said.  "It's something I'm really proud of.

Lewis said the 15 years he's spent as a concert promoter prepared him for a movie career.  He also bankrolled the picture, which stars Tempest Bledsoe, the actress best known for her role on The Cosby Show.  It co-stars Half and Half's Essence Atkins.

N-Secure received support from actor Tyler Perry and rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube. Lewis says movies with a Memphis theme have a lot of potential, and he's hoping his debut film will demonstrate that.

"We really want everybody to jam those theaters this weekend," he said. "Come on out there and make a great impression and great showing."

Lewis hopes to next make a television documentary on former Tennessee State Senator John Ford, and a movie about B. B. King.
