Pinnacle Airlines will move it's headquarters to downtown Memphis, company officials announced Wednesday.More >>
"Transformational." That's the way some people are describing the decision of Pinnacle Airlines to move its corporate headquarters to downtown Memphis.
Pinnacle's move to the center city will continue to build the momentum that's resulted in many positive announcements for the downtown area recently. The airline's decision comes just three months after Bass Pro finalized its plans to build a major retail center in The Pyramid.
Like The Pyramid, One Commerce Center was virtually empty and unused since it lost its last major tenant. So in short order, two of the most expensive and empty buildings downtown are now being brought back to life, and their rebirths will undoubtedly mean many other good things for this important regional asset - downtown Memphis.
Congratulations again to Mayor A C Wharton and all of the other government and business leaders who worked together to make this happen. The benefits of these moves will be enjoyed by all of us who spend time downtown.
