WEST MEMPHIS, AR (WMC-TV) - A Mid-South city is under siege by vandals who are destroying parks and playgrounds with spray paint.

The Tilden Rodgers Park in West Memphis, Arkansas is a place for baseball games, picnics, fishing, park activities and a nice place to walk your dog.  It is also a place someone thought needed to be tagged with vulgar words around the park.

"I think it's terrible," said resident Donna Duck.  "It's one of the nice things West Memphis has for its citizens.  I don't know why anyone would want to do that."

Some of the graffiti has been removed, but some still remains.

"I just feel it's uncalled for," said Duck.

The vandalism does not appear to have anything to do with gangs or any particular groups.

"Anytime we have graffiti in the city, we paint it off as soon as we can and discourage them from coming back," said West Memphis Police Chief Bob Paudert.

Paudert said the method words because there is not as much graffiti in West Memphis as there used to be.

Paudert suspects teenagers are the culprits and is confident they will be caught.  Part of the punishment will be restitution.
