YOUR TURN: To permit or not permit

Not surprisingly, a large number of this week's "Your Turn" letters center on the handgun permit issue sparked by gubernatorial candidate Bill Haslam. Many different opinions on this one. We chose a letter from David Pace who says he has a permit to carry a firearm.

In Pace's words:

I happen to disagree with Mayor Haslam on this issue. I strongly support the right to keep and bear arms, and currently have a permit to carry a firearm in the State of Tennessee. We have enough illegal guns on the streets now. I know that convicted felons are not supposed to own or carry any kind of weapon, but what are we just going to go on the honor system? If you want to carry a handgun, apply, take the training, pay the money, get fingerprinted and have your background checked. If you don't want to do that, leave your weapon at home.

That's Dave Pace's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email or call 800-465-1210.
