Dotson trial costs Memphis nearly half a million dollars

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The man convicted of the worst mass murder in Memphis history ran up a major tab for taxpayers.

Earlier this month, Jessie Dotson was found guilty of killing six people, some his own family members, on Lester Street in 2008.

According to the Commercial Appeal, court costs for Dotson's trial stand at $450,000.  More bills could still come from future appeals and appearances.

The price tag included security inside and outside of the courtroom and sequestering a Nashville jury for more than two weeks.
