ATLANTA, GA (CNN) - A Georgia teenager is dead this morning after he was shot over a Halloween prank, police said.
Maj. Keith Meadows said that a teenager threw an egg at a car at about 8 p.m. Halloween night.
The driver left the intersection of Joseph Boone and Joseph Lowery boulevards, where the incident occurred, and came back with a gun.
"It appears the victim in this case was standing at the intersection when the suspect approached him, produced a handgun, and discharged the weapon at least 10 times, striking the victim," Meadows said.
It's unclear how many times the victim was hit. He died from his injuries late Sunday night at Grady Hospital.
Meadows said the investigation is on-going.
"Right now we do not have a positive identification on him, but we believe that he's about 17 to 18 years of age," he said.
Police believe he was accompanied by several other young people at the intersection.
