MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The nephew of one of the victims in a Christmas Eve double ax murder was charged with two counts of first degree murder Wednesday.

Joshua Cline, 25, was charged with the murders of Donald Ellsworth, 59, and Jerri Meister, 50.  Cline was the nephew of Ellsworth.

Ellsworth and Meister were found dead in their home they shared on Bower Street on Christmas Eve.  The medical examiner ruled their deaths homicides due to sharp and blunt force trauma with an ax.

Days after the murder, Cline's mother, Brenda Cline, said she had no idea who could have killed her brother and his long time girlfriend.

"They were good people," said Brenda Cline.  "That's why I can't imagine why anybody would think about doing something like this to them."

The investigation revealed that the victims' prescription medication, cash and credit card were missing.

Joshua Cline had not been arrested Wednesday because he is at the MED for unrelated medical problems.
