MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A late night party was crashed by armed robbers Thursday.

Residents in the 4700 Long Creek Road were celebrating until about midnight Thursday when at least four masked men crashed the party.

Cornelius Lay said his neighbors were hosting a holiday celebration when the armed men showed up in ski masks.

"I heard the gunshots," said Lay.  "And my son said, 'they're shooting, dad.'  And I said, 'cut the lights off,' that's all I said."

Shelby County investigators said the men ordered everyone to the ground and robbed several of them.

"Somebody else knew that this party was going on and was trying to take something good and use it for bad," said Lay.

During the robbery, shots were fired but no one was injured.  Neighbors assumed guns were going off because they heard them loud and clear from inside their homes.

"It makes my kids feel a little scared," said Lay.  "Even though I am a security officer and I am armed, but that has nothing to do with what happens out there."

Investigators said the armed suspects left the house in a blue Ford F-150 and traveled eastbound on Lowrance toward Hacks Cross Road.

Lay said he will rest easier when he knows the masked men are behind bars.

"I just pray for them," he said.  "If you resort to crime and violence, you're a lost soul."
