MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Excited fans kept their eyes to the sky as they poured in for the Autozone Liberty Bowl game Friday.

Tailgaters set up plastic tents on Tiger Lane, while others braced themselves for the possibility of rain, gusty winds and thunderstorms.

"We've got wind barriers," said Matt Read.  "That's the big thing here at the Liberty Bowl, is to protect yourself from the wind."

Some South Florida fans said the weather caught them by surprise.

"I was wearing shorts a couple of days ago," said Allan Weinthal from Florida.  "I came up here and this is the warmest jacket I own."

Stadium managers were on standby and prepared to stop the game if the weather posed an immediate danger, but fans said they would not let anything dampen their spirits.

"No matter how bad it gets, I'm here," said Brittany Jasinski.  "We're all here.  It's too long of a car drive to leave for rain."
